Motivating the Mind: A Journey from Pessimism to Bright Optimism

In the first part of this story, I shared my background. If you haven’t read it yet, I recommend starting there for context—part one.

Recognizing the need for sustained positivity, I launched on a journey to gain new knowledge and develop new habits. This marked the beginning of my quest to understand how I could achieve this transformation despite the hurdles. In the middle of Wonders, I searched for the best book that covers the human mind and how it works, and I found a book under the name Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman. Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ

The book played a crucial role in making me realize that I must calm my mind to accomplish my goals. In response, I have started incorporating healthy habits into my daily routine, such as taking walks, practicing deep breathing, and expressing gratitude for all the things I have and even for the things I desire to have. This practical strategy enabled me to turn my aspirations into tangible realities.

Note: In order to better convey my journey towards a positive mindset, I have decided to divide my story into a series of smaller stories. For this particular installment, I will be focusing on the importance of a gratitude approach.

As I continued to progress, I gained new perspectives and realized that there was much more to learn about this topic. Eventually, my focus shifted towards understanding the underlying thoughts and concepts. In order to gain a deeper understanding of the challenge at hand, I delved into my research and stumbled upon a valuable piece of information: According to the National Science Foundation,

“An average person has about 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day. Of those, 80% are negative, and 95% are repetitive thoughts.”

This revelation opened a new door to understanding the challenges I faced. So, I discovered that adopting a gratitude approach replaces negative thoughts with positive ones. Practicing thanking guides my thoughts toward progress, and as I nurture this habit, I remain grateful for its impact. Given that 95% of our thoughts tend to repeat, I gradually shifted my perspective to see things from a positive angle.

In my pursuit of achieving my goals, I welcomed a new friend into my life. While working on financial analysis and seeking knowledge, this new friend became a close companion who lit up my free time. Napoleon Hill’s best-selling book “Think and Grow Rich” became my constant source of inspiration. Within its pages, he shares this valuable insight.

“The subconscious mind is a fertile garden spot in which weeds will grow in abundance if the seeds of more desirable crops are not sown there. Autosuggestion is the agency of control through which an individual may voluntarily feed the subconscious mind thoughts of a created nature.”

Once I came across this concept, I realized that our thoughts take root in our subconscious, a space where we can sow seeds with our rational thinking and behavior. This process is similar to how Napoleon Hill described thoughts as seeds in a garden. Through practicing gratitude, I learned that it acts as the nurturing water for these seeds, while my actions provide the necessary sunlight for the plants to thrive and flourish.

After a few weeks, I began to notice a difference. The concept of managing my thoughts became crystal clear. It’s a cycle that starts with gratitude, which then plants positive ideas in the subconscious mind. By consistently repeating this approach, the seeds grow to make a beautiful garden, which represents our mind. My mission is to maintain this garden and prevent any external factors from damaging it. You might think it seems challenging at first, but it gets easier over time.

Now, it’s your turn to embrace the gratitude approach for a positive mindset. I highly recommend reading “Think and Grow Rich” and subscribing to my newsletter to stay updated on my latest releases for mindset development. Thank you for reading!
